I already know that people are great outdoor climbers, but here are three things that will make people even greater climbers.
#1. Please do not leave litter behind at the crags. Specifically toilet paper. In the valley there has not been any rain. Placing a rock over where a person went to the bathroom does not make the toilet paper magically disappear. It stays there for years!!! Bring along another plastic bag and please carry out “YOUR” toilet paper!!! #2. The permanent route anchors on top of the routes need to be preserved. When two or more people are climbing and top roping a route use “YOUR” quickdraws at the top anchors, and the last person on the route uses the permanent anchors to clean the rope back off the route. These top anchors need to be preserved for use as long as they can. On high use routes people are destroying these top anchors within a few years sawing through them with their ropes. Do not top rope groups of people directly through the final anchors!!! Equip “YOUR” topropes with “YOUR” quickdraws!!! #3. In the valley there has been very little rain especially in 2020. A lot of the desert bushes are dying off at a super fast rate leaving the hillsides more and more open. Please stay on the established trails to preserve what is left of the fragile desert flora that we all enjoy. The more people that cut their own paths as they wanter mindlessly across the hillsides, the more damage they are creating. Now get back out there and continue on being amazing!!! Rock climbing is awesome!!! |
