Conversation with Scott Newell 4/2025

MK - Greetings! Recently I have been adding a lot more research to my website of climbing holds, and I came across a Blue Water catalog showing holds. I think Scott sent me the catalog a few years ago, along with boxes of other catalogs.
I have the entire catalog showing on my website.
So I think the holds were made, but never truly marketed.
Just seeking further history of what happened to this Blue Water climbing holds adventure.

SN - Marty, The holds were from an employee who was a dreamer who had no problem spending other people’s money. He was the type who came up with an idea but did not contribute on the actual process of making something happen. I’d erased the holds thing from my memory.

MK - Well I will say that the climbing holds catalog looks professional (except the cover could use a little more excitement!).
So what you are saying is that this catalog is now a major RARE collectable!!
I still feel that the Dreamer did contribute in some way, I mean, I am interested in it since it has "the story."
Confucius may say, "You will never know unless you try."
Monty Python may say, "May be there be holds or not, but may the silliness continue!!!"
Great stuff for sure!!!

MK - (My feelings from this conversation is that the climbing holds were not what the Blue Water company was wanting to market, but somehow the holds vision moved slightly forward before it was scrapped and ended). The final wordage is that no holds were created. I still feel that "A" hold may have been created as the process was shifting to find a company to make the holds for Blue Water. Not sure how far the Blue Water holds process went before it was scrapped.
