Chouinard 1972-1974 Catalogs

The Chouinard 1972 catalog has become a major collectable. But may people do not realize that this 1972 catalog was also the Chouinard product catalog for the 1973 and 1974 seasons. Within the price list located in the back of the catalog, it will show a 1973 wordage or 1974 wordage, and if no date is presented, it is from the 1972 year. I believe that there are 4 different price lists created for each year for three years. So overall I am searching for 12 different price lists in Chouinard catalogs that all have the same outside cover.

The 1972, and 1973, and 1974 Chouinard catalog. The very first January-March 1972 catalog shows on the inner front cover it was selling for 50 Cents. The 1972 spring March 15 - June 15 catalog shows on the inner front cover it was selling for One Dollar. Printed on the inner back cover is where the catalogs were printed, Sandollar Press. In 2012 the Patagonia clothing company reprinted the 1974 version of the catalog. A hundred copies were made. But the cover stock was a flatter feeling stock, and the catalogs came from a company named FSC.

From: Brandon Wojcik-Tremblay -  FSC is not a printer, but an NGO concerned with protecting forests. See: https://fsc.org/en. So the FSC logo is there on the reprinted catalog certifying that their standard have been met for recycled paper.

As the catalogs were being reprinted each season, some of the pages within the catalogs also changed.

This price list is from the Chouinard fold out supplement catalog showing new products and the price list for the start of the 1973 year. So this two column price list is January 1, 1973. Expedition Jacket $79.00. Fold out supplement catalog donated by Steve Sales.

December 15, 1973 - March 15, 1974. A rectangle box is on the page showing items that are no longer available.

Picture
Price list from the Chouinard Spring 1974 Newsletter. This price list I assume was printed in May/June 1974 after the March-June catalog version was printed. So this may be considered the summer 1974 price list version, even though it is found in the Spring Newsletter. Crag Hammer $20.00.

Picture
Price list from the Chouinard Winter 1974 Newsletter. This price list I assume was printed sometime in the fourth quarter of the 1974 year. So this may be considered the September 15, 1974 - December 15, 1974 price list version. No RURP.
*** Looking at both of the newsletters. At the top of the two price lists the prices for the two carabiners (left) are reduced by a dollar over time. But the Chouinard Salewa crampons (right) are increased in price over time.
