The Chouinard Piolet was first introduced in 1969. The Chouinard 1969 catalog that I have does not show the Piolet within the catalog pages, but they are listed in the price list. - Chouinard - Frost signature. One set of teeth on the tip of the pick. - 2 sizes available (55cm, 70cm)
Chouinard - Frost Piolet - Chouinard - Frost signature - Laminated Bamboo - 80cm size - Two sets of teeth on pick - Three rivets holding head to shaft - c.1975

Chouinard 1985 Basic Ice Axe - The Chouinard 1984 catalog shows the Basic Ice axe with the pick having the signed "Chouinard" mfg mark. The 1984 weight is 775g. The 1985, 1986 and 1987 Chouinard catalog does not show the mfg mark side of the ice axe picks. But the weight has changed to 784g. The 1988 Chouinard catalog clearly shows the mfg mark "Chouinard Equipment." So my guess is that the "Chouinard Equipment" mark on the Basic Ice Axe pick started in 1985.
Chouinard - Piolini ice axe - 70cm - Dark blue shaft, dark pick head and dark shaft bottom pick. - Pick has teeth on the tip end. - c.late 1986. The 1986 Chouinard catalog shows the Piolini ice axe having the same full teeth on the pick as the Chouinard Piolet USA shows, with dark blue shaft. But the Piolini shown in the Chouinard 1987 catalog has teeth only at the end of the pick, but the shaft color is changed to light blue. So the Chouinard Piolini being shown here is a transition piece of the 1986 Piolini turning into the 1987 Piolini. In other words, the ice axe has a 1986 shaft with a 1987 head on it.
