Dick Williams was with the Vulgarian Mountaineering Club and climbed a lot in the Gunks. I received a pair of shoes from a Access Fund auction which was accompanied with a letter from Dick Williams which mentions he made pitons around 1958 - 1959 time.
I came across these two pitons in the Neptune Climbing Museum and am amazed of their similarity to Norton Smithe's angle pitons that were made in the 1950s, and used on routes in the Gunks. Both climbers made pitons in the 1950s, both climbers climbed in the Gunks, the Williams and Smithe pitons look exactly alike.
