The Dolt Show was created by Marty Karabin who is a rock climber and Spiritual Sage. The information contained in the Dolt Show follows historical facts within a timeline. There are so many people that have a open heart for Bill. Marty took all of the facts, all of other peoples open hearts, and just the all of DOLT that Marty could find and placed it into Marty’s heart….. and this is what surfaced.
Martys notes supporting the show

If Bill didn’t believe in Yvon, Chouinard may not have become. And if Yvon didn’t affect Bill’s pride, the DOLT 1960 company may not have become.

There are no fingers to be pointing at anybody in this story. Friendships are friendships. Business is business. But in many cases, Friendships and Business don’t mix. I talked to Tom Frost about Bill and he said he didn’t know anything was going on with Bill. Tom visited Bills shop a few times in the 1960s, but Tom was living Toms life and it wasn’t even a thought. Tom was shocked when he heard that Bill committed suicide. In letters that I came across that Yvon wrote it was the same. Yvon was busy with his company and didn’t know anything was going on with Bill. Yvon stated that maybe he should have visited Bill, but was so busy with Chouinard Equipment that he too was shocked to hear that Bill committed suicide. Bill was such a perfectionist, he did well in hiding his faults and did not give anybody any indication that there were things in his life that were troubling him. Even though I have always had a strong attraction toward Bill’s story, with Tom and Yvon I have no disappointment with. Tom Frost and I have a spiritual bond with each other. In 2017 the Chouinard Family personally invited me into their world.

First of all I have to give a Ginormous THANK YOU to everybody that helped me bring the Dolt Show to life.

Especially Stephanie Ruiz and Catherine Ruiz for having the strength to get through this story. Stephie and Cat have been my spiritual ground crew for many years now and having big hearts I must admit that this was a very tough story to get through. As we rehearsed it we could not get through it without a few pauses for tears. Phew we made it through round one but were ten minutes over the allowed time. So let’s rehearse it again, and then a third time after that. It was a true test of heart going on here as we perfected the allowable time perfectly on show night. Dolt has been a passion of mine ever since I started climbing 39+ years ago, and to see this come to life is very beautiful. Without my ground crew, this story may have not come forward. Love you Stephanie and Cat! Even as I am putting this together right now for the website to share to the world, once I got to the end of creating page three, I could feel the tears building up and then letting loose. Maybe this is why once the show was ended, I didn’t go back to it until today. So it took me almost 7 years to revisit this story and have the strength to get through it once again.

Jonah Phung at the last minute asked if we would like to have the show filmed and that was not even a thought so Jonah is a angel for sure. Jonahs video recorder ran out of battery right near the end but he still had audio going so the whole story was recorded. Jonah improvised by shooting still shots and added them in to the film after the show to create a full story video. So Jonah, much love to you. I hesitated putting the video online since there are so many historic photos in the show that I do not own, and some that I do not know who owns so I didn’t want to be stepping on anybody toes. I give major props to the Yosemite Climbing Association and the Yosemite Climbing Museum for preserving these incredible climbing artifacts and information that could have been lost forever. So love here has to be given to the many years Ken Yager collected and searched for parts and pieces of Yosemite history. You are awesome Ken!! An inspiration!!

The Arizona Mountaineering Club asked me if I could put a Karabin Museum show together and I through the years just kept saying I was too busy. But then came the day when I suddenly felt like it became necessary for me to do it. In front of crowds I feel that I always must be in perfection and if I could not be that, I would run away from even trying. Honestly I forced myself to be up on stage to try to get through this public speaking phobia to get more comfortable to be in front of a crowd. That night my stomach was twisted, I felt like I had a fever and wanted to run and hide, but once the microphone was turned on and in hand, I felt like I was in the correct place on my Marty journey and the whole show went smoothly. I could feel Bill’s presence in my heart throughout the show. Many people after the show mentioned that Marty’s Dolt Show was the best performance given in the AMC club in the last 25 years. THANK YOU everybody for your energy and kind words.

I bend a knee to Audrey, Bill’s daughter, for sharing so much of Bill’s family history for everybody to reflect upon. When Audrey first came forward finding out that Bill was her father, it brought forward new energy for the entire Yosemite story. Audrey is the one that gets the most love in this THANK YOU notation.

A big THANK YOU goes out to the many who believed in the Karabin Museum and entrusted me with their personal Dolt artifacts. Especially Don Lauria, Jim Bridwell, Tom Taber and Michael Chessler.

Also a big THANK YOU to everybody who shared information of Bill’s life throughout the last 70 years. And to the many that will come forward now and in the future adding what they know to Bill’s story as well.
