Five Ten Shoes Display

Hmmmm, which shoe should I wear? These are Five Ten Shoe samples from the early 2000s, donated to the Karabin Climbing Museum by Chuck Blackwell. One of each different shoe. I built a display box for them which ended up displaying only half of the shoes. Huge THANKS Chuck! Big THANKS Five Ten for supplying me with the Stealth rubber sample discs especially that hard to get red one!

The display shows 50 different shoes and 86 different Five Ten stickers that I collected over the years. The first job was stuffing all of the shoes with paper so the shoes will hold their shape, and retying all of the shoe lace bows. Steel wire was used to attach the shoes to the boards so they will not slip out of place. The stickers were placed in baseball card holders to keep them mint condition and then taped in place on the inside of the display glass. The display is in the Phoenix Rock Gym so the first issue is keeping the chalk dust out of the

interior of the display case. So thick tape is first put onto the wall, then the display frame is screwed to the wall, then more tape is used between the display case and wall to keep the chalk dust out. Three display boards of shoes were created and the boards were individually placed into the case, then the glass is perfectly fit sandwiching and protecting everything within. Clear tape is added to the display case front preventing dust from entering the front of the display case. I love how these cool projects fit perfectly into place! The Five Ten shoe display was completed September 2016.
