To me, each individual piece of gear is a amazing creation. The purpose of the gear items is obvious, but the shape of each piece and the passion and time spent to design each piece to its own perfection is what amazes me the most. Every item in the Mixed Nuts display is a true work of art! And then color is added which adds further attraction of excitement, especially while the purpose of the gear is in action. If the manufacturer of the gear did not offer the color, the end user added their own personal choice of color cord or even color marking tape to their now owned piece of gear. For me I am the artist that takes all creations and places them in one view in such a way, that it gives a giant standing applause… to all of the creators.
The Mixed Nuts Display was completed June 2018 and is presently on display at the AZ Hiking Shack. 1500 different nuts, nut tools, and other historic relics are in the overall display. This page centers on the nuts portion of the display. For the nut tools go to the Nut Tools display page. I also added a few display boards of Stoppers and Hexentrics that are shown on the Chouinard Equipment display page, to show most of the nuts I have in the museum on this one page. Big THANKS to Stephane Pennequin for his help on identifying many of the nuts and when they were first manufactured. This display turned out fantastic!!! The first step to creating the display is the layout. The museum space at the AZ Hiking Shack has two windows in it, and the windows still need to be used for the store so smaller museum display shelves were designed to go into the window spaces.
