Gear used on the First Ascent of the Nose Route. (MK): I believe this photo was taken near the last pitch of the Nose Route, or even at the summit of the Nose Route because in the photo is shown 7 or so REI bolt hangers, which have not been found on the Nose Route. Hmmmm....

Stoveleg Pitons - 4 were made by made by Frank Tarver in 1956, and three more were made by Rich Calderwood in 1957. So the Stoveleg pitons were not made specifically for the Nose Route FA, but were named "Stovelegs" in reference to the Stoveleg cracks while they were being used on the Nose Route.
