Marty Karabin Pinnacle Peak First Ascents:
(Routes were established previous to the Pinnacle Peak bolting ban). 5.10a Angels On My Mind. 3 bolt face that angles right. (#23 on the Marty Map). FA: 12/6/1997 Marty Karabin, Bill Burns, Gary Burns, Harvey Delos Reyes. 5.11a Mr. Majestic (TR). Top rope center of face, 1 bolt anchor. (#24 on the Marty Map). FA: 12/6/1997 Marty Karabin, Bill Burns, Gary Burns, Harvey Delos Reyes. 5.12- Direct start to Flight 5.11. Added 1 bolt for the start that leads into the original route Flight 5.11, which I think the upper moves are now all 5.12a. FA: / 1990s Marty Karabin. 5.11c Fear Of Crying. Start on Shalayly Direct. Climb up first two bolts of Shalayly Direct then go right past 1 bolt to second bolt (original belay anchor for old route the Rostrum), continue right to the arete which is the Fear of Flying route. Follow Fear of Flying route to the top, 4 more bolts and medium cams. (Marty Map #33). If you clip the first bolt and grab the quickdraw (Aid) to help you get to the second bolt, the entire route from there is only 5.10b. FA: /1990s Marty Karabin, Harvey Delos Reyes. |
