To get extra monies to fund the expenses of the book I started a AD campaign offering local stores, rock gyms, guiding services, and gear manufacturers advertising space in the back of the Queen Creek guidebook. The local businesses were offered to have a bigger AD space, where the gear manufacturers were offered a smaller AD space. From a few of the gear manufacturers they offered a good sum of monies to have their AD exclusive on the back cover of the book, which I said no to. I already had a amazing vision of what I wanted to be on the back cover. So for a few months I was continually on the phone or sending letters to companies in hope that I could raise extra monies for the book project.

I got really creative with these begging letters adding color ink stamps on them so they would stand out more in a attempt to show or give a feel of how professional the upcoming Queen Creek book was going to be.

When I received this letter and card from Anatomically Correct Holds, it instantly gave me a feeling that this is a company that really puts a lot of heart into their business!

The Queen Creek guidebook re-mentioned in the Editorials section with a few of the many letters sent to Climbing Magazine questioning their guidebook reviewing process. A few years later a editor for climbing magazine told me they actually received over 100 letters about their poor review they did for the Queen Creek guidebook.

I did two book signings for Barnes & Nobles book store which was a fun experience. I think only five climbers were present, but I got to have all of the free Starbucks coffee that I wanted.
