In 1997 and 1998 I was in contact with a climbing gear company named Rock House, which is in Seoul Korea. The owner did not speak English so I came up with a idea of visiting a Korean restaurant, and have the restaurant owner help me with communicating with the Rock House company. The restaurant owner said "no problem" especially since it included me purchasing a meal from the restaurant.
The owner of Rock House, Baik Myung Sung, did the same by visiting a restaurant in Korea that served American food and they translated my letters sent to Baik for purchasing a bunch of Rock House products for the museum. It was a fun snail mail process compared to now; the days of the computer world where information and contact is almost instant and unlimited.
