T&D 2011 COMP NOTES:
The 2011 T&D comp was totally awesome!!
For this comp we added two new Side Events:
- The Crab Walk - 30’ rope climb: The climber faces outward as they climb while their back faces the wall.
- The Blacksmith Route - 30’ rope climb: Climber climbs a route made of metal holds while wearing oven mitts. Some of the metal holds were made by Justin, some were from Marty’s personal collection of antique mining equipment, and a few were blacksmithed by Paul Diefenderfer.

- We brought back the Spinner Route side event, by popular demand from the competitors!
- The climbing store AZ Cliff Hanger closed in 2010 and is no longer the presenting sponsor.
- The biggest bottleneck of the competition is when the comp ends and every competitor turns in their score card and receives raffle tickets for all of the events they participated in. Simply turning in the score card will be easy, but it is the raffle tickets that take the longest time to ensure all is done correct for each competitor. My two kids James and Nicholas were a great help with this as they separated hundreds of raffle tickets that came at them like a title wave. The process still took a half hour and then the award ceremony started with calling out the winning raffle numbers for each event. This gave us time to triple check the competitors final scores to make sure the alignment was correct before bringing the winning competitors up onto the podium.
- I don’t have info of the final amount that the Cash Pad raffle raised. Usually it topped out around $500.00

For the T&D 2011 ribbons I found a new gold colored thick patio fabric to use. Nice and flat to get a clean screen printing on. When the ribbons were cut out the edges stayed clean and the string weve did not fall apart. Triangle fold for the top where Marty and Jeremy installed the eyelets. Gold masonry string for the ribbon hanging loop. Printed by Express Screen Printing.

The challenge of the t-shirt design is to show it is a rock climbing event. The t-shirt is to show male and female, the name of the comp, the date of the comp, the PRG name and the PRG logo. For this years t-shirt design I created art that would be centered on the front of the shirt instead like the past years, being printed over a pocket area. Printed by Express Screen printing.

After the comp was completed, Justin created these comp ascent charts for future reference for setting the comps.

Justin's Route Guide was placed in a few different areas of the gym to assist competitors in finding the routes. This Route Guide is ranked by point values. In the gym the problem numbers were all numbered in order, but the problem ratings were random.
