On my many visits to the Goodwill store, I usually look for unique items or old trophies to reassemble and create unique trophies with. Robert even found a box filled with old trophy parts one year that was perfect to make trophies with. Showing trophies made for the 2012 T&D comp by MK Productions. I like how the character on the trophy is blindfolded.

Rope Climb winning trophy. I believe originally it was a karate trophy. The toughest part was jamming a small coat hanger into the rope so it stood firmly upward at the top. The PRG plastic lizard on this trophy was designed by Chris Raypole, the letters were etched in by MK and was remolded by Uprox Holds.

The Blacksmith trophy needed something to be of metal on it, so I found a antique farming plow part to use and bolted it to the trophy. Plastic PRG lizard made by Chris Raypole.

Every year the oldest climber in the comp is automatically awarded with what is known as, "The Golden Piton Award." This climbing hold was perfect to use for the base of the Golden Piton. Larry Reinmuth received this one in 2012.

The Four Peaks Obstacle Course needed to have a trophy since the 2012 T&D was the beginning of the annual obstacle course that followed every year. The base of the trophy is a Four Peaks coaster and the character I believe originally held a bowling ball. Four Peaks also included a huge gift basket of beer goodies for the winner. However since kids were present at the comp we had to have a alternate prize in case they won. A few times a kid did win and the overall prize went to the next person on the Obstacle Course list. Surprisingly Robert and I at every comp held the third and fourth fastest times out of everybody. One year I placed second fastest time, but neither of our times counted since we were staff. Fun stuff!!!

T&D 2012 was the first year that the Four Peaks obstacle course was created for the comp. The event was within the entire Yellow/Exit canyon. I came up with a design that had many disciplines but at the same time needed to be easy to follow. The obstacle course was a total hit!!! Rope swings, some climbing, balance stuff and a lot of winding up and down and around 12 Four Peaks kegs. Fastest time won a prize. After the course was completed the competitor rolled a large dice (which was air filled like a beach ball) and that determined how many raffle tickets the competitor gained.

My usual job the next morning following the comp. Final comp clean up before the gym opens. Return the many beer kegs, tables etc. Mark the bouldering ratings on the boulder problems so customers will know what they are climbing. Good times!!!

Cup trophy for the first competitor to sign up for the comp. Most years the prize is a month membership or 10 punch card to the gym. But one year the prize was a new 200' rope.
|
Volunteer sign up sheet. The volunteers received $7.00 per hour and a free comp staff t-shirt. The rope event actually needed three people to run the event.
|
Comp prize category papers. These slips once cut apart were used as direction to know how many prizes were needed to be filled the night before the comp. Once the prize was bagged up the slip was taped to the prize.
