T&D 2013 COMP NOTES:
The 2013 T&D comp was totally awesome!!
- Rope Route now has a 1/2 way bonus so two raffle tickets it is now worth. In many of the comps competitors attempted to climb the 30’ tall rope but could not reach the top. So we decided to give a raffle ticket for 1/2 way, and a second ticket for the top.
- Spinner Route Side Event, now has 1/2 way bonus. Many

competitors love the spinner route but could not get to the top of the 30’ climb. So we added that for 1/2 way is worth a raffle ticket, and the top gains a second raffle ticket. The Spinner route was in the comp but there was no prize for the fastest time.
- New Side Event: Black And Blue Route: The 30’ tall roped route was a super fun challenge! The entire route was made up of black and blue climbing holds however the climbers hands could only use the blue taped holds and the climbers feet could only use the black taped holds. Some of the black holds had blue tape and some of the black holds had black tape just to add further confusion to the ascent. There were even pieces of black and blue tape on the wall with no holds even being there. So to successfully climb the route was a challenge in itself at the same time it was timed to see who could climb it the fastest. In the pre run of the set route I climbed the route faster than anybody in the comp, but I got creative and put blue tape on my hands and black tape on my feet so I could match up the colors as I ran the route. This is the only year we had the route since it was just as hard for the staff judges to keep track of the climber making sure they used the proper colored taped holds while climbing the route.
- For the Four Peaks Obstacle Course we used 18 beer kegs.
- Blindfold route was in the comp but was only worth one raffle ticket if the competitor got to the top. It was not a timed event.
- For the Balance Beam Side Event we got rid of the fabric frisbee midway toss and added a tennis ball discipline to the fun. Competitors had to balance  a tennis ball on a wooden spoon while walking the two section balance beam. At the midway point put the tennis ball into the ball holder, then run back to the start box to stop the time. We also made the event worth two raffle tickets if the competitor could maintain two tennis balls with wooden spoons, one in each hand. My son Nicholas blew everybodys minds when he successfully walked the balance beam with two wooden spoons and the tennis balls …backwards.
- Dropped the Two Person Route
