T&D 2014 COMP NOTES:
The 2014 T&D comp was totally awesome!!!
- For the past T&D comps the competitors would write in the point values of the boulder problems they successfully climbed on the scorecard. The scores would be rechecked previous to the award ceremony. Due to some final discrepancies, the boulder problem point values were now added to the scorecard where competitors would circle the correct points they received from their climbs so there would be no mistake on the final scorecard mathematics.
- 2014 is the first year we had to enforce that the competitors had to lock in their decision if they were competing in the Elite
T&D 2014 - Trophies and stuff

or Age category. A list was posted at the start of the comp and if the competitor didn’t check the list to make sure all was correct, the competitor had to stay in the category that was posted. Which is the category we were first told by the competitor at the comp start check in time.
- This year we added the “Fit Zone Ninja Warrior course!” The route was totally awesome starting with a climbing traverse to a beam with hanging pipes. Use the pipes to get across the beam to a Bachar Ladder rope down climb, then low traverse to the finish hold. To keep the route doable for everybody, we added a 1/2 way raffle ticket point, and if the competitor reached the final hold they will receive a second raffle ticket.
- Spinner route had a 1/2 way raffle ticket and a second ticket for reaching the top.
- Rope route had a 1/2 way raffle ticket and a second ticket for reaching the top.
- 26 kegs used on Four Peaks Brewery obstacle course.
- Brought back the two person route.
- Dropped the Black and Blue route.
- Balance Beam received one raffle ticket for walking the beam with one spoon and tennis ball, and second ticket for two spoons and two tennis balls. On the final results page it was listed as 3.17 seconds for fastest time which was a mistake, actual time was 6.29 seconds. I almost matched the winning score, then I was disqualified since I snuck in double stick tape which held the tennis balls to the spoons.
- Blindfold Side Event 30’ rope route was sponsored by Evolv.
- Dutch Brothers Side Event 30’ rope route was a 5.7 easy climb of 100 cool shape holds, climb the faces only and receive a raffle ticket.
- For the Cash Pad raffle, the winner went home with $376 plus the crash pad. The other $376 was donated to the Access Fund. Once the Cash Pad raffle winner was revealed, a few more fun items were raffled off calling out additional cash pad raffle tickets.
