Conversation with Steve - 10/2024

MK - Hmmm what to do today? Early Three Ball hold wash!! """""
SD - Yikes lol! That's so cool I didn't know any of these very first shapes still existed!

MK - I believe these are some of the very first holds you made. I have them dated 2003. Very heavy resin mix.
SD - Yep that's right! The molds were made with silicone caulking and holds are polyester residence sand.
MK - Looking at the holds back. The bottom three holds shown have sand added to the base for anti slip?
SD - Yep Exactly

MK - These two I think are second generation. Heavy resin mix, color holds but yet white material bases?
SD - I was trying to reduce the pigment/colored sand usage so I was coating the molds with a thin layer of sand letting it set a bit then filling it up with uncolored resin.

MK - Gray material used as well. The extra layer you added is 1/16 or less thick.
SD - Yeah I think that was a filler we were adding to try to lighten up the weight.

MK - Skull dated 10/2004. "Glow in the dark" Hold floats in water.
SD - I made that skull in 2002, at first it was totally glossy. The super rough texture on the next versions was my sand texture experiment lol!
