Timmy O'Neill

Timmy O’Neill is totally awesome!!! Besides being an accomplished climber and an amazing slackliner, he is amazing at turning climbing videos into a super fun adventure! Every video he is in he gets the audience laughing. I love the segment he did in Canada with Lynn Hill bouldering, where Timmy was cleaning the rock with a brush on a stick going in one direction, and Lynn was climbing in the other direction. He continued brushing Lynn as she passed by like she was a piece of the stone. Lynn played along with the video segment and it truly became a work of art!!!! Or the segment at Indian Creek with Jim Donini, "The tape is the condom of the hand." Some day Timmy will probably be a game show host or something. Timmy, thanks for all you do in the climbing world! You are the best!!!

In 2001, Dean Potter and Timmy O'Neill set the-then speed record for The Nose on El Capitan in three hours and 59 minutes. The two were also the first climbers to link three grade-six big walls in Yosemite in under 24 hours.

At the 2011 Summer Outdoor Retailers Show came the time for the rodeo clip contest. How many times can you get a rodeo clip in 30 seconds. Timmy was late to start the event so I grabbed the microphone and started the announcements where Timmy soon after came and whisked the microphone from my hand. The competition was fierce and overall I thought I got the win with 5 clips achieved. But then the last competitor at the last second tied the 5 clips. So it came down to a rock, paper, scissors showdown to decide the winner. The first round we tied, and then the second round I lost going with paper and the winner went with scissors. Timmy still gave me a bunch of Petzl schwag for the fun!
