From Will Parker
August 19, 2023 Hey Marty, Hope you and PRG are doing well. I’ve recently pulled a Chouinard locking carabiner, a Chouinard #6 stopper, a rap ring, and a piece of tat out of a chimney in Kings canyon national park. Would you be interested in displaying them in the Karabin Climbing Museum? I can mail it all to you if you’d like, and if it sweetens the deal a bit, they come with a radical story of little ol’ me solo trad leading 200 feet of chimney to reach the boulder stuck halfway up the ~400 foot face (I believe I heard the name of the route as “Labia Majora” but it may also be called “hole in the wall”) let me know either way; I’m stoked to hear from you :) Kings canyon trail crew …………………………….......................... From: Marty Will, Super cool! Yes I will love to add your gear find and your story and photos to the museum. I will probably put it into the "People and their story" section in the museum. 200 feet solo in a chimney sounds like a recipe for disaster.... if failed! Cool! :) Marty Karabin ……………………….................................... From: Marty Will, Museum schwag received. Actually a week ago. I like the duct tape shipping envelope the most! Reverse locking Chouinard Pearabiner is a gem. Thanks for preserving the history. Eventually I will get this onto the website> Be safe out there!! :) Marty |
