Recreation Unlimited Ad - Summit magazine June 1964 - mentioning the new refined piton variation which is now in italics, the "Lost Arrow." I did find a earlier advertisement from the North Face which I think was around May 1964 which specified this new piton version is called the "Lost Arrow."
So for now I am placing the time that Chouinards pitons became known as the "Lost Arrow" is in 1964. In later 1964 Tom Frost carved in wood the newer refined Lost Arrow shape which show in the 1965 Chouinard catalog. |
