SMC 1982 catalog. The steel pitons are still available in all sizes and now have a dark grey coated finish. The Bong Angle pitons have a large flat stainless steel rivet on them.

SMC 1988 catalog. Notice how in the catalog it show 15 different pitons available. But in the March 15, 1988 price list it only shows 11 different pitons are available. The 2" Angle and 2 1/2" Angle and the .2 (3/16) Long Shallow Angle was discontinued.
SMC 1989 catalog. Notice how in the catalog it shows 15 different pitons are available. But in the June 1, 1989 price list it only shows that 9 different pitons are available. The Angles 1/2", 2", 2 1/2" and the .2 Short Shallow Angle and .2 and .3 Long Shallow Angles were discontinued.
SMC 1991 catalog. In this catalog it shows that only 6 different pitons are available. But yet it is showing a additional photo of a 1970s 2" Bong Angle. Not sure why SMC decided to include this 2" Bong Angle photo.

The SMC 1998 catalog shows no pitons. So SMC pitons were completely discontinued sometime between 1996 and 1998.
