This piece is named "American Dream" and it was created in September 2012. I was watching the summer olympics and was inspired to create something American, so I decided to make a American Flag tapestry. This was a bigger screw art piece than what I have created so far and I was still new to the screw art idea. Overall I was psyched that the art piece came out exactly as I envisioned it. 7" x 40." When walking by the art piece it really looks like fabric moving in the wind. But when looking closer it really is a lot of painted screws! I gave it to my parents as a Christmas gift in 2012. Approximately 1850 screws.
Artist Stephanie Ruiz is here displaying the screw art piece named "Moonlight Saguaro." I wanted to create a piece that screams Arizona!!!! Or at least what I saw over and over in my dreams when I first moved to Arizona. This piece came out absolutely fantastic!!! I really enjoyed having it in my house for the last 7 years until my friend Cody convinced me that Moonlight Saguaro really belongs to him. The piece is 8" x 42" and is made up of 4100 phillips screws screwed into a piece of one inch plywood. The entire piece was painted with a single toothpick. 350 hours, completed 5/1/2013.
